A dress code in dance is essential to the proper development of a student’s technique. The teacher needs to be able to see a dancer’s alignment and form in order to correct mistakes. Baggy clothing hides bad habits, hindering corrections and advancement. A dress code also cultivates discipline and unity — essential components to the study of dance. A dress code aids the focus and energy of a class. If you dress like a dancer, you feel and dance like a dancer.

All dancers must have their hair neatly pulled back. If they would like to wear shorts, they must be the Great South Bay logo shorts.

Adaptive Dance

Ages 3-7​

• Option 1: Purple leotard, tights, ballet shoes.

• Option 2: Great South Bay Dance uniform t-shirt, black dance pants, dance sneakers. No street shoes permitted.

Ages 8-12​

• Option 1: Teal leotard, tights, jazz shoes.

• Option 2: Great South Bay Dance uniform t-shirt, black dance pants, dance sneakers. No street shoes permitted.

Teen/Adult​

• Option 1: Black leotard, tights, ballet shoes.

Ages 18 - 35 Months Caregiver & Me Dance

• Option 1: Pink leotard dress, tights, ballet shoes.
